May Park Primary provides a range of healthy hot and cold school meals each day which are completely free to all the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Fresh water and fruit is available daily. For all other children the cost of a meal is £2.58 per day (£12.90 per week).
Children can choose their lunch option, from meat, vegetarian, halal, jacket potato, filled roll or pasta, during their morning register. Each choice is accompanied by daily changing options of veggies and sweet treats. Menus change on a three week rota.

Packed Lunches
Your child may bring a packed lunch to school in the morning at the start of the day. We request that packed lunches are cold and healthy, i.e. sandwiches, wraps, pasta, rice, meat, cheese, fish and vegetables with fruit and yogurt rather than sweets or chocolate.
Payments
At May Park we are striving to be a cash free school so all payments must be paid in advance via My Child at School (MCAS).
You will receive activation details from the school which you can use to log in online
at https://www.mychildatschool.com/ or by downloading the app.
Do you think your child may be entitled to Free School Meals?
This is not the same as the Universal Free School Meals provided by the Government for Children in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2.
You could qualify if you are in receipt of:
- Universal Credit – From September 2026, children in households receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for Free School Meals with no income limit
- the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- support as a family with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 get free school meals automatically, whatever your household income. If you receive one of the benefits listed above, you should still apply. This could help your child’s school receive extra funding through pupil premium, to support your child’s education by funding valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching staff or after school.
The quickest way to apply is online. You’ll need a parent or carer’s National Insurance number or NASS number( (Asylum Seeker Reference Number).

Free school meal – online application
Can’t apply online? You can either call the Council FSM team on 0117 903 7990 or collect a paper copy of the form from the school office. You’ll still need to know your National Insurance number or NASS number.
Since 2018, some children have continued to receive free school meals even when their family’s circumstances changed and they no longer met the eligibility rules. From September 2026 if your family no longer qualifies for free school meals in the future, your child’s eligibility may be reviewed, and they may no longer receive free school meals.
Please contact Bristol City Council if you’ve questions about your application or need to send evidence.
